Video: California - 'Clueless' Star Stacy Dash Runs For Congress

For many, Stacy Dash is best known as the actress from the film and television version of Clueless, the loose adaptation of Jane Austen updated with Beverly Hills high schoolers from the 90's. Others may recall her being an outspoken political pundit who has appeared on Fox News and in other venues. Those who have followed her transformation from Hollywood starlet to political commentary may not be surprised to hear that Dash has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for California's 44th District as a Republican.

Recently we've seen the hullabaloo over a supposed Senatorial run by Kid Rock that turned out to be no more than a publicity stunt to sell an upcoming record. Then there was the case of porn star Cherie DeVille and 90's rapper Coolio who admittedly were primarily running to raise awareness about some of the issues in their platform, but Dash seems to be running in earnest and unlike the previous examples has at least has some history of working tangentially with politics considering she worked with Fox News for years up until January 2017.

Dash initially shared with her following on Twitter that she was considering running earlier this month, but with paperwork in the process of being filed, things have moved past the planning phase and on into implementation. The campaign slogan of "Dash to D.C." will be supporting her run for the seat currently held by Democrat Nanette Diaz Barragán. Barragán inherited the seat from fellow Democrat Janice Hahn on January 3, 2017. The district she's fighting for is a predominantly Hispanic region of Southern California and includes Carson, Compton, North Long Beach, San Pedro, Watts and other cities.
