An accident involving an aircraft took place at Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu Monday when a Bangladeshi aircraft crashed on the east side of the runway.
A spokesperson for the airport told local paper Kathmandu Post that casualties are feared and photos circulating social media show a massive plume of black smoke billowing from the site of the crash.

The US-Bangla airlines passenger jet caught fire when it careened off the runway during landing. The commercial airliner crashed onto a football ground near the airport.
A witness to the crash took to social media to express their shock saying, "An Airplane just crashed at the Kathmandu International Airport. I saw it when it happened. OMG!"
The aircraft's call sign is S2-AGU and it took off from Dhaka and landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 2:20 p.m. Monday. Rescue personnel from the airport as well as Nepal Army personnel are engaged in a rescue operation.
