Spain – 8-Year-Old Murdered By Father’s Girlfriend (Video)

The southern Spanish province of Andalucía has seen its fair share of tragedy over the years (unemployment is near 30% and many live under the poverty line), but none has rocked emotions so hard as what happened over the past few days.

In the past week, a father appeared in the media urging people to look for his 8-year-old son Gabriel Cruz who had disappeared.

Spanish culture is very much family driven and as the father was clearly emotional many people helped searching day and night. Even Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy chimed in and soon it had turned into a national tragedy.

It was therefore so much more shocking for the Spanish to find out yesterday that the probable killer of the little boy was the father’s girlfriend, 43-year-old Ms. Ana Julia Quezada, who led people on searches for the child that had gone missing since 27 February.

Police found the lifeless body of the boy in the trunk of her car. As they arrested her, she screamed: “It wasn’t me! I collected the car this morning.”

Spanish investigators have now re-opened an old case of another child that died in her care.

Back in 1996 already, she was mixed up in the case of the death of another child when a four-year-old girl fell out of the window in the northern city of Burgos when she was alone in the house with Ms. Quezada (who stems from the Dominican Republic).
