Today is 19 March here in Europe which means that in exactly two days the meteorological spring is about to start. But you wouldn’t know that from looking outside as another cold front, this time dubbed ‘Beast From The East 2.0’ swept over much of the ‘old continent’, grinding traffic to a standstill again and dropping temperatures into negative territory.
United Kingdom
Roads and airports were brought to a halt as the ‘Beast’ brought a true snow dump which makes travel conditions very difficult once more.
The cold blast, which hails from Scandinavia this time, is expected to last till 22 March. Meanwhile, the Met Office issued a rare ‘risk to life’ warning for the southeastern part of the British Isles.

Mr Frank Saunders of the Met Office stated: “The snow could be disruptive in places, perhaps most likely in the southwest of England and southeast Wales.”
Poland
As always whenever a cold snap sweeps Europe, Poland got the worst hit with low-temperature warnings issued across some 10 provinces in the country already (last time 25 people died in Poland due to freezing conditions). Over the weekend, some 25 centimetres of snow fell in the southern part of the country.

The northern part (you can see Strassbourg above), as well as the capital Paris, were blanketed under a thick layer of snow, making for some pretty pictures for the visiting tourists.

Spain
The capital Madrid was hit with a thin layer of snow over the weekend, bringing most traffic to a standstill as Spanish drivers are truly not used to those conditions.
