Michael Davison, firefighter with Harlem New York's Engine Company 69 has died after being seriously injured in a blaze that broke out in a building where a film starring Edward Norton and Bruce Willis was being filmed. Davidson was a father of four and initially reported missing, after being found he was rushed to the Harlem Hospital upon which he was pronounced dead according to authorities.

As of Friday morning, two other firefighters are listed as in serious condition after fighting the five-alarm fire in the Weill Cornell Medical Center.
<quote>“They went down the stairs to fight the fire with Davidson as nozzelman,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro told reports at Harlem Hospital early Friday.</quote>
It was around 11 PM when the fire broke out in the basement of 773 St. Nicholas Avenue, the former location of the old St. Nick's jazz pub. Filming was being completed right outside on the set of Motherless Brooklyn. Davidson was separated from his unit due to the fires as the rest of the firefighters backed out of the blazing inferno in the basement which was empty at the time. FDNY and EMTs were unable to revive him when he was finally found.
Davidson was a 15-year veteran of the force and the 37-year-old is survived by his wife Eileen and four daughters, brother Eric (also a city fireman in Engine 88), his father Robert, a retired firefighter also formerly of Engine 69 and his mother. Eric Phillips, spokesman for NYC mayor Ed de Blasio said he was at the hospital when Davidson's mother arrived.

“You haven’t heard a scream until you’ve heard the scream of a mother who’s seen her son give his life to protect us,” he tweeted.
Davidson had already been cited four times for bravery as a New York firefighter, he is the 1,150th member of FDNY to die in the line of duty in the history of the department. Apart from Davidson and the two other firefighters injured, three civilians suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
At the time, the film crew was preparing to shoot when director and writer Ed Norton spotted smoke coming from the basement and alerted the police. Witnesses noted Norton was very upset. Officials are still investigating the causes of the fire.
