As things heat up in the race for Governor's office in New York, Cynthia Nixon proved she isn't afraid of calling out her opponent's failures. Nixon blasted Gov. Cuomo over the state's handling of contaminated drinking water in upstate Hoosick Falls saying, "You can bet if this was a town that was in Westchester near New York City — a town with a lot of wealthy people donating to politicians’ campaigns — this would have been addressed a lot sooner."

The actress went on to criticize Cuomo's administration for not "trumpeting it from the tallest hills" that residents shouldn't "drink the water — it’s poison." The state government found out that cancer-causing perfluorooctanoic acid had built up to dangerous levels in the town's water supply but was criticized for their slow efforts to let the residents know of the danger.
Rich Azzopardi responded to Nixon's attack and spoke for Cuomo saying, "Our commitment to the Hoosick Falls community has been unwavering and will remain so until the job is done." Nixon has been active on the campaign trail recently announcing her intention to support legalizing marijuana. "I’m absolutely for the legalization of marijuana. Let’s capture some of that revenue," she said.

Nixon also had some choice words for Republicans who she says are holding up legalization. She also added that people of color are disproportionately punished for "something white people do with impunity." I'm not sure where she is getting her information, but many, many white people go to jail for marijuana each day.
For lack of ammunition to use against Nixon, Cuomo lashed back at her by saying she is using her fame as an actress to run. Of course, Nixon had a response for that too and reminded Cuomo that he was a celebrity too for being the son of former Gov. Mario Cuomo and she does have a point.
