Turkey - University Shooting Kills 4, Injures 3 (Video)

In a first of its kind for Turkey, the country is experiencing a school shooting. According to reports coming out in the past hour, a teacher shot four of his colleagues dead and injured three others whilst on a rampage in the University building over different floors.

The events took place in the afternoon in the city of Eskişehir (800,000 citizens), in central Turkey. Mr Eyüp Kelebek, spokesman for the university was quick to inform parents that there are no students among the dead but there are three injured.

The perpetrator, identified as Doğukan B., is apparently a teacher at the school himself and is now in police custody. The four persons killed during the university rampage were the deputy dean Mikail Yalçın, faculty secretary Fatih Özmutlu, research assistant Yasir Armağan and lecturer Serdar Çağlak. No details as to a motive are known at this point.

The three people who were injured in the attack have not been identified yet.

Eskisehir lays in the middle of Turkey between Ankara and Istanbul and has rarely been the scene of any kind of violent attack. First reports stated that the attack sparked mass panic at the university, with both students and teachers currently still in a state of shock.
