When it comes to big boy toys, a flamethrower is no exception! There is something about a man-made machine that spits the hottest element of nature like a fire-breathing dragon that just captures the imagination. Flamethrowers have had their use in everything from war to video games and now we're going to take a look at some of the coolest (and weirdest) flamethrowers out there!

Starting off the list is a technological wonder from Seth Hardy of Site 3 coLaboratory who has created a mind-powered flamethrower that turns anyone into a full-fledged member of the X-men. The lab's website says, "PK4A stands for “Pyrokinesis for Alex”, where Alex is the last person you’d want to have the ability to shoot fire with the power of her mind. Using a wireless EEG headset and a control unit connected to a flame effect, participants can create 20′+ blasts of fire with their thoughts."

4. The Prometheus Device

Number 4 is the culmination of some serious imagination and hard work from a man named Everett Bradford. He designed the Prometheus over a period of about 6 months and the flamethrower pictured in the video is the third iteration. Strapping this device on your wrist must feel something like having special powers.

2. Four Powered Flamethrower

The number 2 spot goes to Cobbler Videos' Flour Powered Flame Thrower. That's right, I don't think I've seen a more creative fuel for a flamethrower yet.This invention looks more like a sprinkler system for a bakery but it does indeed spit out a giant flame. Cobbler Videos describes how he took the concepts from his Fire Breathing video and combined them with a Pneumatic Cannon to make this cool backyard flamethrower fueled by ordinary flour.

1. Brady's Homemade Backpack Flamethrower

Coming in at number 1 is Brady's homemade backpack flamethrower and this thing is a beast! Brady writes, "What you see is a homemade backpack flamethrower. I initially got interested after finding this page showing another guy’s plans on making." I'm not sure what he plans on using it for, but I wouldn't want to be on the hot end of that bad boy.
