Canada – 14 Dead As Junior Hockey Team Bus Crashes Into Truck

Canada woke up to the news of a terrible tragedy when it was confirmed that 14 young people died when a truck and a bus carrying a junior hockey team collided on Friday evening.

The team called the Humboldt Broncos was apparently travelling on Highway 35 in the province of Saskatchewan when their bus crashed into a truck for still unknown reasons. No images or videos of the events have so far been released as the Canadian government is keen on informing the families of the young people who have passed first.

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau offered his condolences to the families of the young people lost, saying: “I cannot imagine what these parents are going through, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, in the Humboldt community and beyond.”

Royal Canadian Mounted Police inspector Mr Ted Munro confirmed that the 14 others on the bus were wounded (with 3 in critical condition), but did not give any further details out of respect for the families: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families tonight."
