Another fatality could be added to London’s growing list of people stabbed and shot this year are police forces were called to a gas station this morning to respond to reports of a man carrying a weapon and making threats on bystanders.
For reasons currently still unknown, police shot the man about 1 hour later at the Esso petrol station near Collier Row Road and Lodge Lane. The events took place in Romford, east London.

Local resident Ms Tracy Green: "I heard the gun shots - it was at about 4.45am. I just heard 'bang bang' and thought that sounded like gun shots - it was really close to here so it woke me up. I woke up then I saw all of it taped off here. That's when I read about what happened."

Meanwhile, Mayor Sadiq Khan has started to get to grips with the ‘crime wave’ that has seen London surpass even the murder rate of New York and now plans to target anyone walking the streets carrying a knife.

London’s crime wave this year has surpassed all imaginable levels, with the London Metropolitan Police now already opening 56 murder investigations this year. Some 35 of those killed were stabbed to death in an epidemic of violent street crime, with victims getting ever younger.

The crime figures have led to a rise in the use of police stop and search powers, as well as a rise in criticism on the mayor’s office and the UK government as a whole to tackle the problem.
