An Australian woman named Hanna Dickenson (24 years old) has been jailed for three months after she had scammed both her own friends and family as well as many other Australians out of $31,000 to pay for her fake terminal cancer treatment.
Instead, she used the monies received on overseas trips and socializing with friends.
The Melbourne Magistrates' Court was told that Miss Dickenson had told her own parents (who run a pistachio farm near Swan Hill in northwest Victoria) she would not survive and got them to ask their friends for money as well.
