Algerian state TV switched an hour ago to a live feed of the site of a plane crash when a military plane (reportedly carrying some 200 people) went down near a residential area, leaving dozens dead on the ground as well. First reports have it that everyone on board died with rescue workers scrambling to get to the area.

The plane had gone up from Boufarik military base in Algeria,

The Russian built Ilyushin Il-78, was carrying dozens of military troops, with some estimates as high as 200.

A spokesperson for the Algerian military has already informed local broadcaster Al-Hadath that there are no survivors. Some 14 ambulances were already at the scene and injured people were being transferred to nearby hospitals. The Boufarik military airport is close to the Algerian capital, Algiers.
