A brazen command to "take out a cop" was issued by high ranking MS-13 members putting police on high alert across the New York area. An NYPD memo reveals police were tipped off to the threat Wednesday by a "credible" informant and now cops are on the hunt for the gang member who issued the hit.

Police in Hempstead, of the towns in Long Island that has been terrorized by the violent gang, are actively seeking a member of the Salvadoran gang who told the informant they needed to make a "statement". The informant told investigators the gang wanted to specifically kill a cop in the Hempstead area.
"The police have been making too many arrests and it’s time to take the streets back and take out (shoot) a cop like we do in El Salvador," the memo said quoting the suspect's alleged words. The command gave permission to any member of MS-13 to carry out the attack. This Thursday two Florida deputies were fatally ambushed while eating at a Chinese restaurant and gunned down through the window. The police in Hempstead say they have already been wary of the violent gang.

"Everybody normally watches themselves. Everybody’s on alert regardless, especially where there’s a high presence of MS-13," a police offer told The Post. Another officer said the warning should be heeded by all police, not just those in Long Island. "You have a license plate that says FOP [Fraternal Order of Police]," the officer said. "You might wear a T-shirt that says what precinct you work in. A cop’s a cop. They don’t know who you work for. FOP is for everybody."
