A Palestinian electrical engineer rumored to be affiliated with Hamas was killed Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and his family and certain media sources are calling the killing a Mossad assassination. Dr. Mohammad al-Batsh was a researcher in energy sciences.
Fadi al-Batash was killed by his attackers or assassins while leaving a mosque early Saturday morning. According to the Malaysian police chief, the attackers shot between 10 and 20 bullets before they fled the scene. Four of the bullets shot at close range injured Fadi in the head and upper body and he died immediately after of the wounds.
Fadi was married with three children and his research had been published in numerous international science journals. Before lecturing at a private university in Malaysia he was employed by the Energy Authority in the Gaza strip. This wouldn't be the first time that the Mossad has been accused of assassinating scientists, but no confirmed assassination of a researcher has been discovered to date.
