Indonesian ISIS propaganda posters were spread by supporters of the extremist group calling out several American companies for being Satanic. The radical terror group warned that Satan was behind United Nations, the Federal Reserve, Universal Studios Hollywood, CNN, NATO Allied Command Transformation and NASA.

The bizarre posters featured an Islamic fighter firing an antiaircraft gun at a giant statue of Satan. At the base of the statue are several icons representing the accused companies. In the background of the image was the burning eye of Sauron from J.R.R. Tolkien's the Lord of the Rings when it was made into a trilogy of films by Peter Jackson. And of course, there are at least a couple ISIS flags.
A second poster created by the ISIS extremists said "mankind is kept away from the path of his God" by "modern philosophy," "modern science," "modern state", and "modern era." When the Syrian Democratic Forces began the battle to retake the caliphate's self-proclaimed capital Raqqa in 2016, ISIS leader Abu Barkr al-Baghdadi sent out an audio message calling jihadists to take up the fight in Afghanistan, the Caucasus, Indonesia, Philippines, Sinai, Bangladesh, West Africa and North Africa.

Al-Baghdadi put out another call last September for jihadists to "intensify one attack after another against the infidels' information centers and their headquarters of ideological war." This call made reporters, journalists, and members of the media targets of their violence.
Mark Mitchell, acting assistant secretary for special operations and low-intensity conflict at the Defense Department told the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in December, "Indonesia increasingly has become a haven for Islamist extremists. And we've seen it not just in the society at large, but also in the government." Mitchell underscored that "prisons are serving as a source of radicalization.
Sleeper cells in Indonesia have become a growing threat after the nation's military chief Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo warned ISIS was present "in almost every province". Indonesia consists of around 18,000 islands and each could potentially become an ISIS hotbed. Nurmantyo said, "We must all beware of sleeper cells being activated in Indonesia."
