DeSoto, Texas - Students at DeSoto High School and DeSoto Middle School are on lockdown while police investigate an unverified threat.
The DeSoto Police Department Sgt. Sherman Williams said someone posted a message on Twitter about wanting to shoot up the high school Monday.
“That threat is unverified and there is nothing to suggest it is an actual threat”, Sgt. Williams said.
The school district said that both the high school and middle school were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
“There is no immediate threat at this time. All students are safe and accounted for”, the district said.
Police are searching the high school campus as a precaution.
This is a pending investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
This is not the time for liberals to spew the typical gun control rhetoric. For all we know, the twitter message may have been sent to spark another outcry.
Law abiding citizens are not the individuals who target schools to slaughter innocent children.
Criminals will always find a way to get their hands on guns. More than 64,000 Americans died from drug overdose in 2016. That number doubled in the last 10 years.
Making drugs illegal doesn’t stop people from selling them on the streets. The same would be said for guns. The left has always pushed for gun control as a tool to gain votes during the election.
It’s time we secure these schools like we secured the Airports and the Arenas. Notice how it’s always the unprotected schools that are targeted? If we create a deterrent, these attacks will stop.
