A manhunt is currently underway for the suspect in a robbery and fatal shooting that claimed the life of a sheriff's deputy in Maine. The suspect shot and killed the sheriff's deputy before stealing his police cruiser. At this point both state and federal authorities, including the FBI, are involved in the hunt for the man.
Eugene Cole, Somerset County Deputy Cpl. died early Wednesday morning in Norridgewock, Maine. The suspect, John D. Williams, 29 of Madison, is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. The suspect stole the Corporal's vehicle before driving it to Cumberland Farms (Cumby's as it's referred to by the locals). Williams is 5 foot 6 inches, around 120 pounds and has brown hair with sides shaved, a ponytail and blue eyes.
The cruiser was found abandoned around 5am PST and the police believe he is presently on foot. Schools in Oakland, Waterville, Winslow and Norridgewock will go into lockdown according to media.

According to the authorities , they have aerial support and at the moment it is an "extremely fluid investigation" but other than that there was not much the department could share at present. They will be back with another press conference this afternoon. The investigation currently is bipartite: uniformed personnel working with local, state and federal authorities. The actual homicide investigation is being handled by the state police. As the investigation is unfolding certain questions like where the deputy was shot can't be answered yet. An autopsy will be conducted today.
A scheduled press conference was supposed to occur at 9:30am PST that should appear at the WABI TV 5 Facebook page, but unconfirmed rumors from locals have it that Oakland, Lawrence and other surrounding areas are also on lockdown. Some have even claimed the suspect had stolen another vehicle at gun point.
