Undercover FBI Sting Brings Down California Child-Sex Trafficking and Child Porn Operation

An undercover sting by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in California has led to the incarceration of a dangerous pedophile who police say was involved with both the child-sex trafficking of minors as well as the production and distribution of child pornography.

Law enforcement says that 26-year-old Kaybaun Rodgers was first arrested during a prostitution sting by the FBI last year, which led to further investigation of him being involved in the child-sex trafficking of a teenage girl for several months.

A signed affidavit by an FBI agent says that Kaybaun Rodgers not only physically abused the teenage girl but would use her to produce child pornography not just with himself but with multiple pedophiles who had paid to sexually assault her.

After some of the men had engaged in the forced sexual abuse of the teenager on film, Kaybaun Rodgers would then attempt to blackmail and extort the pedophiles for additional cash threatening to release the footage if they didn't pay.

The affidavit explicitly states that the men were unaware they were being filmed during the disturbing rape scenarios, at which Kaybaun Rodgers would later approach them and ask then “if they wanted to be on Facebook,” using that as a means of extortion.

According to court documents the initial sting occurred in Union City, where 19 total pedophiles and “Johns” were arrested at the Union City - Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Those arrests occurred in November of 2017, where both the Union City Police Department and the Alameda County Vice Enforcement Team, the Hayward Police Department, the Piedmont Police Department, and the Alameda County Probation Department conducted the operation, as reported by KRON 4.

Numerous dangerous pedophiles were apprehended as a result of that sting, where the initial goal was to recover commercially sexually exploited children, arrest adult and juvenile prostitutes, pimps, and the male customers.

An online advertisement was placed to attract pedophiles who wanted to have sexual relationships with young children, of which the men then responded to the advertisements and agreed to pay cash for the sexual experiences to an undercover federal agent, according to court documents, where 15 men were arrested on prostitution-related charges and four additional men were arrested on aiding a prostitute.

During those raids, one of the pedophiles arrested was found to have been a Castro Valley High School girls soccer coach, according to KRON 4.

This prompted a response from the Castro Valley High School which released the following statement:

”Families have expressed concerns about reports in the media regarding the CVHS Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. Castro Valley High School was only notified Tuesday afternoon, November 14th of allegations of conduct not related to school. The District took immediate action and placed the Coach on leave. We have assigned Coach Lauren Nadler to work with the team.”

As per affidavits signed by many of the men arrested, and a nearly six-month long investigation, authorities would later determine that Keybaun Rodgers was the ringleader of the operation.

Rodgers had given his telephone number to one of the undercover FBI Agents investigating the case posing as a potential customer to purchase sexual relations with the teenage girl, which led to text messages being sent between the agent and one of the sex workers who was being trafficked in Rodger’s network.

After negotiating a price, the agent set up a meeting between himself and the teen girl at the hotel, at which time the female was taken into custody upon her arrival.

Rodgers would later be located sitting in a car in the parking lot, where a search resulted in locating the woman's identification.

After executing a search of Rodger’s cell phone, authorities found what they described as a “trove of digital evidence,” including an incident in which Rodger’s had filmed himself entering a hotel room where a customer was paying for the rape of one of the teens, and then he proceeded to blackmail the suspect.

“Do you know you’re in here with a minor,” Rodgers can be heard expressing in the video, as he walks in in the client having sex with the teenage girl.

Rodgers proceeds to search the man's pants while he's recording, and asking if he has any additional cash on him.

The man is referred to as “unidentified male 1” in court records, and the female, a 17-year-old high school student, is referred to as “minor victim 1.”

Authorities also say they found two similar videos dated four and five days after the above-mentioned footage, in which Rodgers proceeds to blackmail other men who had paid for sexual relations with the teen.

As it turns out, police had previously responded to a domestic violence 911 call involving Rodgers and the 117-years-old, where law enforcement observed both bruises and cuts on the girl's face and forearms, but later told the officers that the wounds were self inflicted, describing Rodgers as “a friend,” resulting in what's believed to be no arrests at the time.

Law enforcement also uncovered advertisements on the website Backpage, which as

The Goldwater recently reported, was shut down by the Department of Justice after several months of monitoring illegal prostitution and child-sex trafficking activities on the website.

Advertisements posted by Rodgers on Backpage referred to the teen as “Vanilla Cakez,” and advertised her for potential purchase by pedophiles.

On Tuesday, United States Attorneys charged Kaybaun Rodgers with the federal crimes of the child-sex trafficking of a minor, which carries a potential 10-year minimum prison sentence if convicted.

Kaybaun Rodgers currently remains in federal custody where he awaits trial for his charges against children, and it's believed he'll also be charged with the production of child pornography.

This remains a monumental victory for both local and federal law enforcement agencies in the arrest of numerous pedophiles, and brings safety to countless children across the region who would have been at risk to be taken into captivity as part of this network.
