Oregon police are offering a $2,600 reward for information about the individual that shot several deer with arrows in the Shady Cove area after citizens had called them to investigate having seen the helpless animals running around.
A state trooper indeed found a pair of living deer that had arrows sticking through them, one through his head and another through his body. Luckily the animals' injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.

“In this case, the arrows that were used are not even hunting arrows, but rather target arrows," Mr. Duane Dungannon, state coordinator for the Oregon Hunters Association.
"This is not a bowhunter. This likely isn’t even a poacher trying to take a deer for meat.”

The Rogue Valley chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association offered to up the initial $500 reward to $2,600 when they saw the pictures, hoping that the individual could be rooted out by doing so.

According to the police officers, their department would need to tranquilize the animals in order to remove the arrows safely.
"You have to get very close to the deer, about 30 yards, for it to be effective, which is difficult for wild deer."
Over the whole year of 2017, the Oregon Hunters Association offered a $24,000 reward for information about fish and wildlife poaching cases and violations.
