Oregon – Deer Found With Arrows through Head, Body - Reward Offered For Information

Oregon police are offering a $2,600 reward for information about the individual that shot several deer with arrows in the Shady Cove area after citizens had called them to investigate having seen the helpless animals running around.

A state trooper indeed found a pair of living deer that had arrows sticking through them, one through his head and another through his body. Luckily the animals' injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening.

Related coverage:

“In this case, the arrows that were used are not even hunting arrows, but rather target arrows," Mr. Duane Dungannon, state coordinator for the Oregon Hunters Association.

"This is not a bowhunter. This likely isn’t even a poacher trying to take a deer for meat.”

“This is someone maliciously launching target arrows at live deer as though they were targets for their entertainment. It’s unconscionable, and as conservationists, we won’t tolerate it,"

Related coverage:

The Rogue Valley chapter of the Oregon Hunters Association offered to up the initial $500 reward to $2,600 when they saw the pictures, hoping that the individual could be rooted out by doing so.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Kaito Raiser: "We've been unable to capture the deer to remove the arrows."

According to the police officers, their department would need to tranquilize the animals in order to remove the arrows safely.

"You have to get very close to the deer, about 30 yards, for it to be effective, which is difficult for wild deer."

Over the whole year of 2017, the Oregon Hunters Association offered a $24,000 reward for information about fish and wildlife poaching cases and violations.

Wow I have to agree with Johnny this time. The bastard responsible should have to run around with a field point arrow stuck thru his or her neck for a few months. Better yet have the asshole live out in the woods and forage for food as well.

Hunting is one thing, but tormenting innocent animals for no reason but to inflict suffering is not the act of a mentally stable individual.

I hope the piece of trash responsible gets what he deserves.
