Americans will soon have to say goodbye to Boy Scouts of America- the name, that is. That’s because the well-known flagship program that has gone strong for 108 years is “evolving”, and will soon have girls entering the ranks, too, that will of course necessitate a name change in the well-loved children’s program.

The organization announced that the Boy Scouts program will be renamed as Scouts BSA. The name change will be effective next February.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Boy Scouts of America launches historic ‘Scout Me In’ campaign and unveils the new name for its iconic program for older boys and girls. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ScoutMeIn?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#ScoutMeIn</a> <a href="https://t.co/a0qmZz2BXd">https://t.co/a0qmZz2BXd</a></p>— Boy Scouts - BSA (@boyscouts) <a href="https://twitter.com/boyscouts/status/991677437938319365?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 2, 2018</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Coming out with the new name was no easy task as the organizers wanted to strike a balance between nostalgia and the future. Chief Scout Executive Mike Surbaugh said: “We wanted to land on something that evokes the past but also conveys the inclusive nature of the program going forward. We’re trying to find the right way to say we’re here for both young men and women.”
The parent organization will continue to be named as Boy Scouts of America, and the Cub Scouts meant for 7-to-10-year-old kids will likewise retain its name. Cub Scouts, in fact , started accepting girls into its program ahead of the Boy Scouts meant for 11-to-17-year-olds. Scouts BSA will start accepting girls next year.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Side note: the actual organization name isn't changing. People seem very confused about that. It's still the Boy Scouts of America. <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Surbaugh is also predicting that the children will learn to identify each other merely as the gender-free “scouts”’ instead of adding a modifier “boy” or “girl.”
The name change, however, comes in the midst of strained relations between the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. Leaders of Girl Scouts said they were surprised by the move, and that they are ready to address the challenge posed by the change to become more aggressive in recruiting and retaining girls as members.
Girl Scouts CEO Sylvia Acevedo maintains that their group is the premier leadership development organization for girls. She added that they should remain the “first choice” for girls and for their parents.

Many are also not impressed with the “confused” name change for the program, with those calling it kind of redundant, both in name and function as there is already Girl Scouts of America. There are those who are even contending that the name change is merely inspired by leftists’ agenda.

Stupid move, stupid name, stupid libs! Dont change America as we know it!
The Boy Scouts leadership kept “ineligible volunteer” files to “track a variety of transgressions” that adults committed against scouts. The files were subdivided into several categories including “perversion”—the category that encompases child sexual abuse. Gilroy’s lawsuit claims that by 1972, BSA had thousands of perversion files, many of which were subsequently destroyed. These files were kept secret before being destroyed, and as the years rolled by afterwards, the BSA allowed the 'ineligible volunteers' who had been reported for molesting scouts continue their transgressions against the children, many times actually blaming the children for the sexual abuse.
The article wasnt about molestation that ought to be front and center by itself! But girls in boyscouts is bull💩! Its like the other person said its this gender netural crap! Boys stand to piss girls have to squat! 2 different animals acting and thinking! Neptune is an idiot!
I just cannot understand why girls needed to infiltrate the BSA? If the girls don't like the activities the girl scouts participate in and want activities more like the boy scouts, the girls should have petitioned the girl scouts to add said activities instead of ruining the boy scouts.
This is just another run at teaching children the liberal ideals about gender. IE there are more than 2 genders in their eyes. BS!! If a girl wants to be like the boys she should have no problem joining a group called the BOY scouts and shouldn't need special treatment different than the boys.
