America is suffering from the lack of instruction in our educational system and the most profound being history.
A poll released in April showed that two-thirds of millennials have never heard about Auschwitz.
Auschwitz was the most notorious Nazi death camp in World War II with an estimated 1.3 million killed.
It is an outrage that schools have failed to teach even the most basic historical facts to the younger generations.
The Internet and ease of access to the web have seized the teacher from the role as governor of subject content.
Attempts to 'empower' children and a lack of discipline in the classroom have promoted rising levels of violence, at home, as well as in the schools.
David Hogg, a “teen survivor” of the Parkland, Florida shooting, who became a gun-control activist, exemplifies the lack of education and knowledge of history that must be added back to the school curriculum. He recently tweeted:
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Throughout history violence and war only creates more of itself for example WWI->WWII->Cold War ->Korean War->Vietnam and up to today. While nonviolent moments like Gandhi’s, the suffrage movement or Civil Rights movement lead to peace and long lasting change. Ours will too.</p>— David Hogg (@davidhogg111) <a href="https://twitter.com/davidhogg111/status/990772803623415808?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 30, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
This garden variety explanation, combining multiple liberal talking points, demonstrates Hogg’s illiteracy regarding history.
It should be noted that Gandhi has been accused of a number of crimes and bizarre behavior, for which he is rarely held accountable: sleeping naked with young teenage girls to test his chastity, racism against the blacks of South Africa, a believer in the discriminative Caste system, a Hindu nationalist, referring to Adolf Hitler as a ‘friend’ and allowing his own wife to die from bronchial pneumonia."
Gandhi was a misogynist who believed that a woman who has been raped lost her value as a human being. He labeled women who used contraception as ‘whores’, justified the honor killing of daughters over sexual assault; to preserve a family’s honor.
Rita Banjeri, author of Sex and Power asserted that "he believed menstruation was a manifestation of the distortion of a woman's soul by her sexuality".
Gandhi had some rather warped and obsessed views regarding sex. He hated his own sexual desires and preached that sexual intercourse was bad for the health and led to bodily complaints, such as constipation. He is quoted as saying that sexual freedom would be the downfall of India’s people.
“During Gandhi's time as a dissident in South Africa, he discovered a male youth had been harassing two of his female followers. Gandhi responded by personally cutting the girls' hair off, to ensure the "sinner's eye" was "sterilized". and…" Gandhi boasted of the incident in his writings, pushing the message to all Indians that women should carry responsibility for sexual attacks upon them. Such a legacy still lingers."
I would hardly use Gandhi as a template for how “civilized” we should be.
Hogg’s nonviolent movements notables— Gandhi’s Indian independence movement and the U.S. civil rights movement — were not exactly nonviolent.
Gandhi and his wife, Kasturba, were both incarcerated and struggled just to survive. In February 1943, Gandhi staged a 21-day hunger strike that almost killed him, but he remained imprisoned. His wife developed bronchitis and suffered several heart attacks behind bars; she died in prison a month before Gandhi was released in May 1944. Gandhi spent nearly six years of his life imprisoned.
In 1947, the Indian National Congress negotiated a deal for independence from Britain, but Britain wanted to break India into two countries. West Pakistan and East Pakistan would be an Islamic country and India would be a Hindu country. Gandhi fought to make them one country again, but in 1948 a Hindu man shot and killed him. Ten million Indians moved to live in the “right” country for their religion, and a million more died in the riots that pushed people to move.
The civil rights movement was hardly non-violent with a death toll in the hundreds of thousands. The rights of many black Americans were secured almost entirely by gun ownership.
These “nonviolent” movements occurred in countries with a tradition of respecting the rule of law and individual rights, given them.
The 1st Amendment, the freedom of speech and the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances, was secured because young men, mostly teenagers, were willing to take up arms, arms that Hogg and so many people on the left are relentlessly crusading against, and risk their lives to fight for their God-given liberties.
There was once a time when all Americans would have known this and acknowledged the blood and suffering of the Revolution that secured our freedom and independence.
War is an ugly thing but it is often just and necessary, and it has served to stop tremendous evil as well as affording us the rights we now bear.
Hogg’s lack of historical knowledge hasn’t kept him from insulting others as though he is more knowledgeable.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The media love affair with punk David Hogg is highlighting a deadly issue for American parents, schools and lawmakers. <br><br>DAVID HOGG IS A BULLY.<br><br>America has a bully problem.</p>— thebradfordfile™ (@thebradfordfile) <a href="https://twitter.com/thebradfordfile/status/980142941527314432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 31, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
He once said, “Our parents don’t know how to use a f—ing democracy, so we have to.”

He then followed up in a later interview claiming that those who were against him were on the wrong side of history, a history that his generation would presumably be writing.
“Regardless of what your opinions are or where you come from, you need to realize we are the future of America,” Hogg said in an NPR interview. “And if you choose not to stand with us, that’s OK, because you’ll be on the wrong side of the history textbooks that we write.”
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">We have gone from sympathizing with, tolerating, to now enabling. <a href="https://t.co/ESs0lEa77l">https://t.co/ESs0lEa77l</a></p>— Lionel🇺🇸 (@LionelMedia) <a href="https://twitter.com/LionelMedia/status/993074253917548544?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">May 6, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Americans are free to use a public platform to express their views. At the same time, it’s hard to have a productive debate on the issues when the person who is debating lacks the most basic knowledge of history.
Our public school education model is failing our children, despite all the money we pour into it.
We simply have to improve our schools. Many of our schools don’t meet the basic requirements needed to be informed, citizens. Even worse, the education that students are receiving is heavily biased toward left-wing politics.

Eric Holder - "We just have to be repetitive about this. It's not enough to have a catchy ad on a Monday and then only do it every Monday. We have to do this every day of the week and just really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."
