Israel - Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat to Name Jerusalem Square US Square In Honor of President Trump

On December 6, 2017, Trump announced that the US would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocate its embassy there from Tel Aviv.

“President Trump has decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish people, to stand on the side of the truth, and to do the right thing,” Mayor Nir Barkat said in a statement.

On Tuesday Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat announced that a traffic circle adjacent to the capital’s US embassy will be named “US Square, in honor of President Donald Trump.”

“Naming this square in honor of the president is our way of showing our love and respect for the president and the American people, who always stand by the side of Israel.”

The Israelis we’re overjoyed with Trump’s decision but the Palestinians were enraged. Their desire is to make the city the capital of their future state. They argue that Trump’s decision ignores their demands.

To the Palestinians, they claim it is indicative of the White House’s pro-Israel bias.

Israel considers the Trump declaration as recognition of a historical fact.

Psalm 122:6-9 NIV

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. ” For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity.
