On Tuesday, AT&T confirmed that there was a payment of $200,000 for what it described as “insights” from attorney Michael Cohen into the Trump Administration, a revelation that explains in detail much of the frustrations expressed from both sides of the aisle about Cohen.
In four individual installments, AT&T made payments that totaled the $200k to Cohen, according to CNBC.
The admissions were made after an attorney for Stormy Daniels, Michael Avenatti, said AT&T had made payments of $50,000 in each installment to a shell company belonging to Michael Cohen, for a total of $200,000 in late 2017 and the beginning of 2018.
The shell company Essential Consultants was created by Michael Cohen in 2016, showing that he clearly had either been offered sums of cash for these “insights” prior or planned to sell such information before the Trump Presidency began in January of 2017.
AT&T admitted that they made payments to Cohen's shell company and that it “was one of several firms we engaged in early 2017 to provide insights into understanding the new administration,” in a prepared statement.
"They did no legal or lobbying work for us, and the contract ended in December 2017," AT&T stated.
This brings interesting questions towards just how President Trump feels about Michael Cohen, and if he's been made aware that Cohen was essentially profiting off his Administration by selling “insights,” which one would assume that Trump has been made aware of.
The details of those “insights” or just how much Cohen received in payment remain unknown.
It's also interesting to mention that AT&T is currently engaged in a legal dispute over their desired acquisition of Time Warner, a deal worth $85 billion.
The Department of Justice has attempted to block the deal, meaning that AT&T could have potentially paid Cohen dirt for information to be used against Trump or even the DOJ, which doesn't seem like something someone loyal to President Trump would do.
It's also being reported that a pharmaceutical company, Novartis, made four payments in both 2017 and 2018 to Cohen's Essential Consultants for an estimated $400,000.
"Following these payments, reports surfaced that Mr. Trump took a dinner with the incoming CEO of Novartis before Mr. Trump's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in late January of 2018," Avenatti stated.
Could Cohen have been profiting to arrange meetings with Trump and others? What was Cohen's endgame?
There are numerous unanswered questions here, that is certainly going to be interesting to see answered.
One has to ask how Cohen was able to operate in this fashion for so long, and if that's why Trump hired Rudy Giuliani, after finding out that Cohen may have worked underneath him? Time will tell.

For now, Rudy Giuliani, a clever and ultra-talented attorney, will continue to represent the President for his legal team.
