The ISIS-affiliated terrorist group Jemaah Ansharut Daulah attacked 3 Catholic churches in the city of Surabaya with suicide bombers in Indonesia this morning in short succession of each other, leaving at least 9 dead and 38 wounded so far, but the death toll is expected to rise in the coming hours.
Police spokesman Mr Frans Barung Mangera who was present at the first church, stated: “There were three attacks against churches.”

The coordinated attacks took place within a timeframe of 10 minutes of each other, with the first one happening at 7.30 am, during morning mass.
Indonesian police claim to have secured a fourth unexploded bomb at one of the churches as well.
According to local media, a woman with a younger child and a teenager was being questioned by security when the bomb exploded, though it is unconfirmed whether they were part of the attack.

Police have so far only given details of one attack on Santa Maria Catholic Church.
Earlier this week, Islamist militants were able to murder five members of an elite counter-terrorism force when police had locked them into a 36-hour standoff near the capital, Jakarta. According to one police spokesman, the original attack was probably planned for Jakarta but because of the loss of men over there, they chose Surabaya and attacked the Catholic churches.
Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia.
