Law enforcement in Royal Oak, Michigan have released dash cam footage of a fatal officer-involved shooting after a teenager viciously attacked his parents and then charged the police officer responding to the scene before firing on the suspect.
Police say that 20-year-old Cody Reynolds first stabbed his mother, and then smashed a guitar over the head of his father before his parents were forced to contact emergency 911 to stop their deranged son from continuing his streak of violence against them.

At around 3:11 AM on Monday morning a Royal Oak Police Department squad car arrived to the home on the 1000 block of Hoffman Avenue where the officer spotted Reynolds approaching his vehicle.
The officer gave commands for Reynolds to surrender, who at first can be seen in the footage complying with the demands, even placing his hands above his head and getting on the ground.

Then, as if driven mad with the intent to cause the officer harm, Reynolds jumped from the ground position and began lunging into the direction of the officer.
Muffled commands from the officer warning Reynolds can be heard as the dashcam captures him approach, and then shots are fired.
What appears to be five shots can be heard in the video and Reynolds is hit, at which time the officer attempts life saving techniques to save him.
The police report says that the officer tried to back away from Reynolds, and that he “very abruptly got on the ground, but then quickly rushed towards the officer in an aggressive manner."
The officer had no choice but to open fire, and Reynolds was later pronounced dead as a result.
As in any scenario where an officer discharges his weapon, he's currently on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, but preliminary reports suggest the officer was fully justified in his firing on Reynolds, corroborated by the dash cam video of the teen charging him.
Reynolds family say they're unsure what drove their son to madness, although his decision to ignore the responding officer cost him his life.
