Catholic Church in Crisis: 34 Chilean Bishops Resign Over Endless Pedophilia Scandal

The Catholic Church is seemingly broken beyond repair due to the decades of allegations involving pedophilia and child-sexual abuse - but now the breaking point may have been reached - with 34 Chilean Bishops resigning en mass in what may be the single largest amount unified resignations in the history of the Vatican.

We've witnessed Priests, Bishops, Cardinals, and even close advisers to the Pope face allegations of pedophilia-obsession through child pornography and the molestation of children, and watched as the Catholic Church and the Vatican have attempted to cover up many of those cases.

In Chile, an ongoing crisis involving clerical child-sexual abuse has brought the entire body of the Chilean Catholic Bishops Conference to its knees, quite literally, with the 34 Bishops who make up the religious affront writing a “Declaration of the Bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Chile, in Rome,” where they each submitted signed resignations to Pope Francis.

The measure is said to devastate the predominantly Catholic nation and send shockwaves all across the globe as two Chilean Bishops announced the unified decision at a press conference following a three-day meeting with the Pontiff.

The Bishops wrote the following of their decisions (Translated to English):

”We want the face of the Lord to shine again in our Church and we commit ourselves to that. With humility and hope, we ask everyone to help us travel this path.”

”After three days of meetings with the Holy Father, and many hours dedicated to meditation and prayer, following their indications, the Bishops of Chile wish to communicate the following:”

”First of all, we thank Pope Francis for his father's listening and its fraternal correction. But especially, we want to apologize for the pain caused to the victims, to the Pope, to the People of God and to the country for our grave errors and omissions.”

”Thanks also to Mons. Scicluna and Rev. Jordi Bertomeu for their pastoral and personal dedication, as well as for the effort invested in recent weeks to try to heal the wounds of society and the Church of our country.”

”Thanks to the victims, for their perseverance and courage, despite the enormous personal, spiritual, social and family difficulties they have had to face, so many times in the midst of the incomprehension and attacks of the ecclesial community itself. Once again we implore his forgiveness and his help to continue advancing on the path of healing and healing wounds.”

”Secondly, we want to announce that all the bishops present in Rome, in writing, have placed our positions in the hands of the Holy Father so that he freely decides with respect to each one of us.”

”We are on our way, knowing that these days of honest dialogue have been a milestone in a process of profound change, led by Pope Francis. In communion with him, we want to restore justice and contribute to the repair of the damage caused, to re-impel the prophetic mission of the Church in Chile, whose center should always be in Christ.”

”We want the face of the Lord to shine again in our Church and we commit ourselves to that. With humility and hope, we ask everyone to help us travel this path.”

”Following the recommendation of the Holy Father, we implore God that in these difficult and hopeful hours, our Church will be protected by the Lord and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.”

”The Bishops of the Episcopal Conference of Chile in Rome”

With this decision, it's an additional strain on the tenure of Pope Francis, who last year faced heavy critique from a large group of what are considered to be known as Conservative Catholics, including theologians, academics, and Priests from all across the globe have now issued what's known as “filial correction” to Pope Francis, accusing him of spreading Heresy from the Holy See.

Much of the so-called Catholic family structure and core values have been depleted in recent decades, amidst the never-ending stories of Priests, Cardinals, and even the closest of advisers to the Pope inside the Vatican being charged with pedophilia-related crimes against prepubescent children and the committing of rapes and molestations as well as the cover-ups that ensue thereafter.

Such a move is shocking in the history of the Vatican, and indeed has not occurred since the year 1333, a little less than 700 years ago.

The group says the statements are from ”Spiritual Sons and Daughters”, in reference to themselves, issued to their ”Holy Father, in reference to the Pope.

The last time such an order was issued back in 1333, it was against Pope John XXII in a backlash over his view that the souls of the just, even after their perfect purification in Purgatory, did not enjoy the Beatific Vision of God. Only after the resurrection of the flesh and the general judgment would they be raised by God to the vision of the Divinity.

In short, Pope John XXII suggested that after death one would not enjoy the presence of God until the Last Judgement, which resulted in his charge of Heresy.

However, in 2018, we face a much different set of circumstances. Pope Francis has alleged that women who are divorced may receive communion, something that the traditional theologians stand firmly against.

Various factions amongst international Catholicism have stood firmly against the Pope's Amoris Laetitia, which included the possibilities of remarried Catholics being part of the Communion with the Church.

Pope Francis has also embraced homosexual marriage, and that's been a keynote of the anguish against him from Conservative Catholics who outright repute such an embrace.

As if these claims were ambiguous enough, which many strongly feel the Papacy is incorrect over, especially by allowing the embrace of homosexuality, there comes the gripping concerns over the brutal and barbaric child sex scandals in which needlessly continue whilst the Vatican under this Pope continued to cover-up.

What happens next is anyone's guess, but there is an increasing number of Catholics who have disavowed both Pope Francis and the Vatican, and the Chilean scandal may only be the beginning of future resignations.
