There's disturbing news to report coming out of Virginia, where a pedophile was arrested after federal law enforcement agents say that he attempted to copyright a child pornography video which depicted the forced rape of a two-year-old child.
Federal agents say that the 22-year-old pedophile and child pornographer, DaShawn Webster, became subject of an investigation by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division were tipped off by Interpol that he was distributing child pornography on the internet.
Both Interpol and HSI agents out of Boston began to monitor to the internet activities of Webster, which later led them to a home in Portsmouth as per the IP addresses in which he used to upload the illicit files of prepubescent children.
Authorities would later obtain a search warrant for the home of Webster, at which last Friday federal agents executed.
During that raid of DaShawn Webster’s home, HSI Agents recovered a flash drive that held 17 images of a male toddler having been sexually abused by the pedophile, all of which are described as being “homemade,” stashed inside of a folder on the drive and labeled with a specific screen name.
To make matters viler, it appears as if Webster tried to “copyright” the images, even having a specific watermark, his screen name, on each of those videos.
After further searching the residence, agents from HSI would also discover five additional videos, all of which depicted Webster raping the same child.
During interrogations with Federal Agents, the Virginian pedophile would later admit that the infant child was only two-years-old at the time in which the illicit videos were made and that he had raped the child on several occasions.
Webster also confessed to using numerous screen names to hide his identity, all of which he uploaded and distributed child pornography around the internet on.
After finding out that one of the screen names was linked to a Cox Communications email address, agents asked the internet service provider to verify the details.
Cox Communications was then able to provide Homeland Security Investigations with a physical address to a home on Rex Avenue in Portsmouth, in which was later found to have been a known address of Webster, where they now believe the rape of the child was filmed.
A Portsmouth Police Sergeant went to the home, only to find that Webster had moved.
After locating his new residence, the Portsmouth Sergeant approached Webster asking about a “missing person” to verify that was the location in which he resided.
To make matters more disturbing, at the time of the Sergeant’s visit, Webster was babysitting two underage children, two young boys.
Within days the Homeland Security Investigations unit executed the search warrant and took Webster into custody.
DaShawn Webster is currently being detained at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he's already made one appearance in a US District Courtroom.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth “Beth” Yusi has declined to comment on the case, as did his defense attorney, Assistant Public Defender Keith Kimball.
If convicted, Webster could face 20 years in federal prison for each of the charges.
The brilliant work by ICE HSI and Interpol as well as the Portsmouth Police Department can claim credit for taking this disturbing pedophile off the streets of Virginia.
