Montana – Mysterious Wolf-Like Creature Shot In Denton, Experts Baffled (Video)

US wildlife experts are completely baffled by a "wolf-like" animal that was shot by a rancher in Montana earlier this week.

The farmer shot the creature when it came near his livestock. The events took place near the town of Denton.

Bizarre theories have been making the online message boards as to how some believe it to be a werewolf, a young grizzly bear or even a distant relative of Bigfoot.

The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP) said it was a "young, non-lactating female and a canid, a member of the dog family that includes dogs, foxes, coyotes, and wolves".

"The animal came within several hundred yards of the rancher's livestock. He shot it and reported it as required by law."

However, state wildlife experts admitted that, after inspecting the animal, they have so far been unable to pinpoint its exact species. The organization doubted the creature is a wolf as its teeth were too short, front paws abnormally small and claws too large.

"Social media was quick to pronounce the animal as everything from a wolf to a wolf hybrid to something mythical."

The identification process may take a few weeks or even months, "all of which means it may be a while before anyone really knows what the animal near Denton really was."
