Various events are scheduled in observance of Memorial Day all over the country to honor the men and women who gave up their lives while protecting the people, country, and flag. One commemoration, however, will surely stand out not only for the visual feat but the profound meaning behind the event. It is happening in southeast Houston where an incredible display will be showcased.
Sagemont Church put up an amazing 38,000 American flags to deeply represent each Texan who sacrificed and paid the ultimate price for freedom.

It was a beautiful work put together by volunteers as they bedecked the 600-foot grassy expanse between the church’s front door and Beltway 8 with the 38,000 U.S. flags.
This year marks the second time that the Church is giving the tribute. They first did it last year, and it caused such a stir on the highway- a positive one, that is. As volunteers then planted the flags, truck drivers and other motorists honked their horns in support of the beautiful tribute to the state’s heroes. One church official even called the motorists’ response as “honks of gratitude.”
The incredible flags will be on display until Friday afternoon. Church officials are cordially inviting the public to come and see the full display and humble tribute to the nation’s heroes, and Texans all. The people are also advised that it is best to see the exhibit during daylight hours for the great visual experience.

A service will also be held at the Church on Monday morning.
Near the breath-taking lawn where the flags are planted is also a Memorial Wall where visitors can write their messages about the gallant military members who lost their lives protecting the people, country, and flag.
