Belgium - Islamic Terrorist Targeting Police Had Radicalized In Prison (Video)

Mr. Benjamin Herman, the 36-year-old Islamic terrorist who shot 2 female police officers dead and killed an innocent bystander during a terrorist attack in the Belgian city of Liège yesterday, had converted to Islam and subsequently radicalized in prison.

There were multiple daily security briefing reports written by prison guards that stated he only communicated with Islamic jihadists in the prison of Marche-en-Famenne where he was held.

Related coverage:

Two days ago, he was released from prison for a period of 1 day and did not return. It is believed he took part in a holdup on a jewelry store in Luxembourg that turned sour. As a known perpetrator, he was as from that moment put on the list of wanted criminals and could thus be arrested at any time.

Yesterday morning, he attacked two female police officers in the back with a switchblade and took the pistol of one of them to shoot them multiple times. Both women died of their wounds. An innocent bystander driving past in a car was also shot.

He then entered a school and held two women hostage until police cornered him and took him out in a targeted shooting (see video hereunder).

The question that Belgian press is now asking: ‘how can someone with such a criminal past who is known to have radicalized and communicates with known Jihadists be released from prison even for a day?’.

The Minister of Justice, Mr. Koen Geens, was asked that same question on the evening news but stated it was too early to draw conclusions while the investigation is still ongoing.

Furthermore, even though there are by now multiple videos on social media showing the gunman shouting ‘Allahu Akhbar’ during his killing spree, the Belgian government has not yet assigned this as Islamic terrorism.

Belgium has elections in October of this year.
