Patriot Prayer, the freedom of speech group which is claimed to be part of the far-right, held a rally in downtown Portland where it was met by Antifa activists during a counter-protest.
Most of the Antifa protesters covered their face and wore black and red (which by now has become customary for the far-left group). They chanted “Nazis go home,” while one of them could be seen holding a sign stating “F— the police.”
As the two groups ran into each other, heavy clashes broke out which police had a hard time containing.

Local residents were advised by police officers to leave the area as they were “at risk of getting caught in between violent clashes and any law enforcement actions or arrests.”

The Patriot Prayer leader, Mr. Joey Gibson is running as a Republican candidate for US Senate in Washington state and had organized the rally to draw support for the cause.
Portland Police reported that members of the competing factions could be seen hurling projectiles at each other, including fireworks, bottles, rocks, and ball bearings.
The Rose City Antifa group stated that Patriot Prayer and its leader Mr. Gibson was a “magnet for violent white supremacists and bigots.”

“The time between then and now has only reinforced our resolve, and the evidence of Patriot Prayer’s racist ties has accumulated to undeniable quantities.”
Neither of the two groups apparently was granted a permit to hold a protest. In the end, four people were arrested.
