Singapore - Kim Jong Un Arrives In The City-State For Historic Summit With Trump

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has arrived in Singapore with his delegation for the historic meeting with President Donald Trump.

Kim and his party were met at the Changi airport by Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishan, who was in Pyongyang on Friday.

Kim went St. Regis hotel after where security was tight. Around a dozen North Korean guards were seen working with Singaporean police to set up security checkpoints.

Journalists had to stay outside the restricted area, along with civilians hoping to catch a glimpse of the controversial North Korean leader.

Kim arrived in Singapore via his The Boeing 747. Air China flight CA 61 also touched down shortly after. There were earlier reports that said China is sending a plane to accompany and provide extra security to the North Korean leader in his trip to Singapore for the summit with Trump.

A second Air China plane also landed at Changi airport. It is believed to be carrying Kim’s sister, Kim Yo-jong. Kim Yo-jong is considered the leader’s closest aide who also accompanied him on both of his visits to China last month. She also represented North Korea during the Winter Olympics hosted by South Korea in February.

Prior to the arrival of the Kim siblings an Air Koryo aircraft, North Korea’s national airline, landed in the city-state filled with supplies, and carrying official vehicles for Kim and party.

A diplomatic source also said that ahead of Kim’s arrival at the St. Regis hotel, an advance party was also there to welcome him including vice-chairman of the Central Committee Kim Yong-chol, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ri Yong-ho. Kim Yo-jong got there ahead, too, and were already waiting for Kim at the lobby.

President Trump will be flying directly from the G7 Summit in Quebec, Canada and was expected to arrive in Singapore by around 8:30 p.m. local time.
