A taxi in Moscow, being conducted by a driver from Kyrgyzstan, left a traffic jam yesterday and then mounted the pavement to drive into a group of people wearing Mexican colors, who were in town for the world cup, leaving 8 of them wounded.

The strange thing about the story is that Russian officials, when the story broke, at first said the driver had fallen asleep and then switched to stating the driver was probably drunk. When the video of the incident subsequently spread on social media, many thought the driver had deliberately left the traffic jam to drive into the group and doubted the official version that spoke of an ‘accident’.

The incident currently is being treated as a traffic accident <a href="https://t.co/XB2XDVjgrF">https://t.co/XB2XDVjgrF</a> <a href="https://t.co/9wgUM7KDfc">pic.twitter.com/9wgUM7KDfc</a></p>— Alex Kokcharov (@AlexKokcharov) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlexKokcharov/status/1008032302323175429?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">June 16, 2018</a></blockquote>

After the incident, many others from the group of Mexican supporters can be seen trying to open the taxi’s door after which the driver finally opens and then flees the scene, chased by several other men.
Moscow is currently hosting the World Cup and thus if this were indeed a terrorist act and not an incident, President Putin clearly wants as little attention as possible to it.
The incident took place on Moscow Ilinka Street, only some 650 feet from the world famous Red Square and the GUM shopping arcade.
