Racism appears to work both ways after a black woman announced her disdain for "white people" before assaulting two white passengers of a city bus. Gaithersburg Police said 24-year-old Kimberly Jordan of Silver Spring has been charged with racial harassment, obstructing and second-degree assault.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Monday on The Ride On Bus as it was nearing the intersection of Frederick Avenue and Travis Avenue near the Lakeforest Mall. Police say Jordan began to stare at two white passengers and then murmured "I hate white people." Moments later, the 250-pound Jordan stood from her seat and pummeled a white female in the face. A white male passenger tried to defend the woman but he was struck int he face also.
After the assault, Jordan got off the bus and fled but officers responding to the assault call located her about a quarter mile from the intersection where the assault took place. Jordan told police that the victim struck her first but reviewing the surveillance video proved otherwise. She then changed her story to say she felt remorseful for attacking the two riders and added that she had not been taking her prescription like she was supposed to.

When the investigator confronted Jordan over the lack of medication not being an excuse for racist assaults she responded, "I know." The Ride On bus driver told police Jordan specifically said, "I hate white people." Her own friend who was also on the bus corroborated the statement.
Court documents she Jordan is unemployed and living with her grandmother. She has a lengthy criminal history with charges ranging from burglary to assault and domestic violence. A Montgomery County District Court date has been set for July 12 for Jordan who could be facing up to 13 years in prison.
