Is Pornography Ruining Men’s Sex Lives?

Because of the rise of internet, pornography became accessible. Pornography is like everywhere. One can freely search the internet and view free pornographic sites.

Gallup polling made a telephone survey in May 3-7 focusing on 1,011 random American adults from all across the country. The participants were asked to score a series of issues as morally acceptable or morally wrong in what Gallup refers to as their annual Values and Beliefs poll. Gallup polling result showed that pornography was viewed as morally acceptable by a record high 36 percent of the population.

This was all good until researchers were able to discover a negative effect of porn to man specifically men who view porn.

During the annual Scientific Meeting of the American Urological Association Friday, researchers discussed a growing concern on how viewing pornography can affect man’s sexual life, health and even his intimate relationship with his girl.

In the new research, scientist said that by watching pornographic materials like magazines or videos in the internet, it could result in the risk of having sexual dysfunction because it could affect men’s libido.

Dr. Matthew Christman, director for pediatric urology of Naval Medical Center said that more men views pornography because it is now readily available as free sites like PornHub. As men watches more porn, they are less likely to connect with their real-life partner in bed. Their relationship with the girl will suffer since men who watch porn are unable to foster intimate relationship with their partner in bed.

Newsweek reported that in a survey conducted to 312 male patients showed a relationship between the excessive viewing of porn and sexual dysfunction. 20% of men in the group were said to be watching porn 3 to 5 times a week and 4% said they prefer to masturbate to pornography that to have sexual intercourse with their partner.

It showed that viewing of pornography can result to lack of sexual desire, dissatisfaction of sex and even erectile dysfunction.

Will this research stop men from viewing porn?
