US President Donald Trump reacted via social media to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show ratings slump and his subsequent admission on social media that he feels his ‘humanizing’ of Mr. Trump was a partial reason for this.
POTUS stated that “Jimmy Fallon is now whimpering to all that he did the famous “hair show” with me (where he seriously messed up my hair) and that he would have now done it differently because it is said to have “humanized” me. He is taking the heat. He called and said “monster ratings.” Be a man Jimmy!”

During the 2016 interview, Mr. Fallon had infamously touched (and messed up) Mr. Trump’s hair, a move he now regrets as it made the then-presidential candidate seem more human.

During a recent Hollywood Reporter podcast, Mr. Fallon explained that the now infamous interview didn’t mean he was approving of Trump: “I did not do it to ‘normalize’ him or to say I believe in his political beliefs or any of that stuff.”
The Tonight Show host also revealed the criticism that he had been too soft on Trump. “It’s tough for morale. You go, ‘All right, we get it. I heard you. You made me feel bad. So now what? Are you happy? I’m depressed. Do you want to push me more? What do you want me to do? You want me to kill myself? What would make you happy? Get over it.’”

“People just jump on the train, and some people don’t even want to hear anything else. They’re like, ‘No, you did that!’ You go, ‘Well, just calm down and just look at the whole thing and actually see my body of work.’”

It is estimated that ever since Donald Trump took office in January 2017, Mr. Fallon's show lost 20% of its audience both to Stephen Colbert's The Late Show for CBS and ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!
