Scarlett Johansson Denies Auditioning to Date Tom Cruise, Saying She Values Integrity

Actress Scarlett Johansson is vehemently denying the claim made by a former Scientologist on live TV that she once auditioned to be the girlfriend of top actor but very controversial star, Tom Cruise.

Johansson isn’t taking the accusation sitting down, hitting back at Brendan Tighe who made such claim on his guesting on Megyn Kelly’s NBC show on Wednesday where he specifically said Johansson was on a list of women who auditioned to date Cruise after the superstar separated from his ex-wife Nicole Kidman years ago.

Johansson said the idea of auditioning to be in a relationship is simply absurd for her. She said: “The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning. I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships.”

The Avengers star added: “Only a man aka Brendan Tighe would come up with a crazy story like that.”

Tighe even claimed that Johansson must have done so poorly in the “audition” because actress and Scientologist Erika Christensen had to distance herself from her after the supposed failed audition. However, the Church of Scientology also denies Tighe’s alleged role with Cruise.

Karin Pouw, from the Church of Scientology International, revealed Tighe’s true role in the church, saying: "Brendan Tighe was a Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization security guard/night watchman from 2002 to 2009. The 'access' he boasts of having was largely limited to viewing security cameras from a guard booth. He was removed from that position for dereliction of duty."

It wasn’t the first time, however, that a rumor regarding a screening process for women to date Cruise surfaced.

The mind-control cult is said to exercise so much control over the actor’s life that they even forced him to cut ties with his own young daughter, Suri, with former partner Katie Holmes.
