As soon as US President Donald Trump announced his Supreme Court nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, protesters were out on the streets to decry his pick, a move that led to the arrest of seven people outside Trump Tower in New York where, amongst others, City Councilman Jumaane Williams (D-Brooklyn) was arrested.

Over in Washington meanwhile, one of the Democratic frontrunners for the Presidential Nomination in 2016, Vermont Senator Mr. Bernie Sanders, was quick to lead a protest against Mr. Kavanaugh’s nomination. As he stood on the steps of the Supreme Court, Mr. Sanders said (although yelled is a better terminology to use) what’s been on the mind of the progressive side of the Democratic party all week: “Are you ready for a fight? Are you ready to defend Roe vs. Wade?”

Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and others you are yelling into the camera over SCOTUS.. “This is a tough fight but it is a fight that we can win . . . We have the American people on our side, now we have to go state by state by state to make sure senators do what their constituents want.”

We can't gamble our rights away with this #SCOTUS nominee. Join me and call on your senators to demand that Brett Kavanaugh publicly state his position on Roe v. Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that recognizes a woman's constitutional right to an abortion, will probably be at the heart of the Progressive side of the Democratic party’s fear as they need to affirm or block Mr. Trump’s nominee in the coming days and weeks.
Mr. Sanders claimed explicitly that Judge Kavanaugh if accepted to the Supreme Court, would mean a danger for this policy. He stated: “President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will be a rubber-stamp for an extreme, right-wing agenda pushed by corporations and billionaires. The coming Senate debate over the replacement of retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy is about the future of Roe v. Wade, campaign finance reform, voting rights, workers' rights, health care, climate change, environmental protection and gun safety.”

We all know what’s at stake with Kavanaugh’s nomination: The freedom for women to make our own choices. Equal rights. Civil rights. All of the values we hold most dear. Stopping this will take all of us, fighting as hard as we can, raising our voices again and again. pic.twitter.com/TfhDaxoNQi
— Kirsten Gillibrand (@SenGillibrand) July 10, 2018

“He ruled against a migrant teenager seeking to be released from custody in order to obtain an abortion. I do not believe a person with those views should be given a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court. We must mobilize the American people to defeat Trump’s right-wing, reactionary nominee."

What a crazy MFer that Bernie is. His craziness is evident upon 1st glance, then he opens his trap and out spews the most anti-American rhetoric! That is one off the rails retard. RvsW is just a sideshow that proves the left wants SCOTUS's that will rewrite laws instead of just ruling per our constitution as written. The Dems are cooked no matter what they do with this guys conformation. The best thing for us conservatives would be stalling the confirmation till after the midterms in my opinion. RBG is not long for her seat as she is barely alert enough to hold her head up these days. Amy will be her replacement I feel. Anyone that doesn't realize the implications of a HRC presidency now are blind cause we would be done as a country with her at the helm. Brennan would be running the NSA, HRC would have picked 3 super liberal SCOTUS's and all the texts and emails proving the coup to sway an election would be buried forever. Oh yea and our sovereignty would be nonexistent with open borders and amnesty for all!
Socialists should be protesting The Constitution, not the judges.
So Bernie and his band of idiots want to defend something not in danger. The President, that is Trump who has always kept his work and has never been labelled as bigot or racist until he ran for President, has already said at most the matter will be up to each state. Next issue or non-issue?
I am so glad Trump won and not Bernie the socialist elite or Hillary. I am aware of Hillary's many screw ups but what has Bernie ever done in his life?
I noticed they already had signs pre-printed … likely each of the possible picks
In short they were going to bitch no matter who was picked.
