Nebraska Residents Post Bulletins Urging Citizens to Report Illegals to ICE

Signs posted by residents in Omaha urge citizens to report "illegal aliens" to ICE - throwing the town into an immigration debate. Some residents have been tearing the flyers down condemning them as hateful and offensive.

One woman said, "That’s stereotyping. Let’s say me for instance — I’m not illegal but others will say I must be illegal, let’s report it."

The anonymously posted signs deliver a message that says, "A Notice To All Citizens Of The United States Of America It Is Your Civic Duty To Report All Illegal Aliens To US Immigration And Customs Enforcement." It's not hateful or offensive to report criminals to the authorities. The signs are telling citizens to report "illegal aliens" if you don't know for a fact that someone is an illegal its not asking you to report them.

A lawyer tried to argue just the opposite saying, "The only way you can find out if a person has proper documentation to be here is to impersonate a federal official, which is illegal." That simply isn't true, many people will admit they are illegal either at protests or in situations where they perceive it to benefit them to do so.
