A scientists’ group has rescinded an award to a turtle researcher who included photos of scantily clad female students doing field research in his presentation-speech at a prestigious New York conference.
Longtime Brazilian turtle researcher Dick Vogt showed the said questionable racy photos of female students in bikinis on Thursday during the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in Rochester.

Some of the slides used were described as being so risque that conference organizers added blue boxes to cover parts of the women’s bodies.
The conference gained buzz and Vogt notoriety when attendees took to social media and expressed their disagreement and disapproval with said presentation, calling the slides “sexist and exploitative.”

The uproar prompted the Herpetologists’ League to rescind Vogt’s award for distinguished herpetologist on Friday. They said in a statement: “HL does not condone harassment or discrimination in any of its forms. HL regrets and apologizes for offensive content presented in the 2018 Distinguished Herpetologist lecture.”

Meanwhile, the directors of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists tweeted that they "regretted" Vogt's presentation.
Some also shared on Twitter that what the researcher did was not “surprising” anymore, given that he has always had a pattern of past inappropriate behavior especially toward women.

Holy cow, what was this guy thinking lol. Wonder if that pickup line ever works though, "Hey baby, have you ever fucked a herpetologist."
It's fucking hot in Brazil! What are they supposed to wear, full blown lab coats?

Shit that never happened. Oh well, his fate is sealed. No matter how ground breaking his work was, he will now be crucified and expelled from mainstream science because he dared to make a femoid overlord uncomfortable.
Only in a Jewified world are men continuously blamed for something women do. Why isn't anybody yelling at the whores for wearing next to nothing?
He should never again enjoy the respectability of his field because he doesn't deserve it!
Looks like that scientist group brought their religion–the one done to them–to the meeting. You're not borne, you don't come out of the hole with these thoughts. Someone has to do them to you. Boycott the Herpetologists’ League and hopefully no grants will come their way. What a bunch of nimrods.
Rescinding the award of that pervert researcher was a move a little too late, it was obviously done for damage control purposes. but if no controversies broke out, they would have condoned that pathetic behavior of that jerk of a researcher.
Oh how can even a science-based org give the creep and excuse of a man an award in the first place?
I suppose having any women, dressed in any kind of clothing, would be too racey for today's ignorant boob's. Oops? Please blue dot that word!
If the week women had no problem, who are they or us to judge? This #metoo bullshit is exactly that. Bullshit. You don't like it, who is as
If the women had no issue who are we or the association to decide? He didn't researched on types of women or bikini, right? Idiot bimbo's #metoo movement invites similar Ilk. You don't want to go to the event, don't. Who gives a fuck.
Are they just photos of people doing research in hot climate that happen to be in swimsuits? If so, then it is social over sexualization. Or are they lone pictures of women undressing with no connection at all to a scientific presentation? All we have to go on is what others are saying from their point of view.
Well show us the pictures so we can be the judge of that.
