Hawaii - 23 Wounded As Lava Bomb Crashes Tourist Boat (Video)

23 people were injured when molten rock crashed through the roof of a sightseeing boat near Hawaii’s Big Island. The whole ordeal was captured on video, making for some unusual scenes of natural beauty and panic.

The “lava bomb,” which could be seen bursting out of the water landed on the roof of the small tourist vessel and subsequently crashed into the seating area.

Mr Shane Turpin, captain of the ship explained it was the very first time molten rocks ever landed down on top of his boat: “As we were exiting the zone, all of a sudden everything around us exploded.”

“It was everywhere. It was immense. I had no idea. We didn’t see it.”

Captain Turpin claimed that this sort of activity is new as there were no warning signs before the blast: “there’s something new. There’s something really new.”

“And I’ve been documenting them a bit.”

As a result, several of the passengers had to be taken to hospital: a young woman was in serious condition with a broken thigh bone while three others were in stable condition at a hospital with unspecified injuries.

All other passengers onboard the vessel at the time suffered burns, scrapes and other superficial injuries. The ship of captain Turpin was brought in for repairs.
