The growing anger from the Democratic side over US President Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin has resulted in an unusual request.
During several interviews and speeches yesterday, members of the Democratic party made it known that they would like the loyal state department employee, Ms Marina Gross, who translated for Mr Trump during his closed doors meeting with Mr Putin, to testify before congress about what was said during that 2 hour session.

Democratic Representative Mr Bill Pascrell of New Jersey was one of the people who suggested Ms Gross should be brought before congress to give evidence as to what was discussed: “We need public testimony by the only American present at this meeting to ensure Trump did not further undermine our intelligence or law enforcement communities.”

“Given the public concessions' of Trump to Putin 'by siding against the US intelligence community, law enforcement, and our military officials about Russia's attack on our democracy, Congress and the American public deserve to know the details of their private conversation. Serving as a translator, it has been reported that Ms. Marina Gross was the only other American in the room and so the sole reliable witness to the conversation between the two world leaders.”
Ms Gross previously worked for former Secretary of State Mr Rex Tillerson and has worked in the past for former First Lady Laura Bush.

Given that the Republicans control both the House and the Senate, there is however a very slim chance of that succeeding.

The Democrats are trying to use the media hysteria created after the Trump-Puttin summit when they claimed that the US President ‘threw the US Intelligence services under the bus’, a move that has resulted in criticism from across both parties in the political atmosphere.

Over in Russia itself, there was mostly praise for what has been achieved between the two global leaders. Ms Valentina Matvienko, speaker of the Upper House of the Russian parliament, said: "this is the first important step towards establishing a political dialogue."
"We saw two leaders who wanted to come together to find common ground."
