The singer-actress has always been candid about her struggles with cocaine addiction, alcohol problems as well as her challenges of dealing with an eating disorder and mental health issues.

Lovato is still confined at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles since she was rushed there on Tuesday afternoon following reports of an overdose. She is surrounded by family and friends.

Fellow musicians, celebrities, and fans flooded social media with messages of love, support and well-wishes for Lovato. Some of the singer’s supporters even used the hashtag, #HowDemiHasHelpedMe to talk about how she and her music have helped them with their own struggles.

Just this June, Lovato even released a single called, “Sober” in which she revealed she had relapsed after six years of sobriety. She sings on the track: “I’m sorry for the fans I lost who watched me fall again. I want to be a role model but I’m only human. I’m sorry that I’m here again. I promise I’ll get help.”

On the other hand, there are also some who took the celebrity to task for yet another breakdown.

The singer’s rep quickly quashed all speculations about Lovato’s state with a statement on Tuesday stating that the celebrity is “’awake and with her family.” The rep also stressed that the singer’s recovery is their most pressing concern.

Lovato in a previous interview bared how she’s coping with her addiction and mental health issues, sharing that she meets with her therapist twice a week. She said: “You just have to take it one day at a time; some days are easier than others and some days you forget about drinking and using, but for me, I work on my physical health, which is important, but my mental health as well. I make sure I stay on my medications. I go to AA meetings. I do what I can physically in the gym. I make it a priority.”

Lovato last performed only this week prior to being rushed to the hospital. It is not clear yet when she intends to resume performing.

Some of the singer’s fans also took issue with the 911 call of her overdose emergency coming out and going viral.
