President Trump took a moment Sunday to address the concerns that many Harley-Davidson motorcycle owners have with the company moving their factories overseas. "Many @harleydavidson owners plan to boycott the company if manufacturing moves overseas," he tweeted "Great! Most other companies are coming in our direction, including Harley competitors. A really bad move! U.S. will soon have a level playing field, or better."

Several Harley-Davidson owners recently told The New York Times they would be abandoning the nearly 100-year-old Wisconsin company in favor of companies that make their products in the United States. Harley-Davidson announced last June it would be sending some of its U.S. production plants overseas to avoid tariffs. Harley was forced to scale down domestic production in response to increased taxes that were the result of retaliation for U.S. steel and aluminum duties.
67-year-old biker Gary Rathbun told the Times, "I’m riding my last Harley. It was American made, and that’s why we stood behind them." An engineer from Illinois named Gary Panapinto said that Harley-Davidson should keep its manufacturing facilities entirely U.S.-based. "They need to keep them here in the United States, especially if they’re going to sell them here," he said. "I think Trump is just trying to protect jobs in the U.S."

Quoting: "Harley-Davidson announced last June it would be sending SOME of its U.S. production plants overseas …"
SOME MISSING FACTS:
1. HD quit building everything in one place 30+ years ago.
Remember when AMF purchase almost bankrupt HD in the late 60's? An the years of crappy HD's cycles
until it was repurchased in early 1980's ?
2. HD riders might finding it interesting they have in fact they been riding a 1/2 to 3/4 USA motorcycle for 30+years.
Because any one checking will quickly see, the Harley-Davidson motorcycles sold in the United States are not
actually made here., they are only assembled here.
3. Since around early 1990's Harley Davidson has contracted out manufacturing of parts to vendors around the world.
4. The short list of Major Vendors already includes : Germany, Italy, Taiwan, Japan, and Mexico.
5. Those parts are then shipped to various Harley factories here and assembled in to Harley.
So OPENING European and Asian Plants, just LIKE Ford, GM have done, is what HD is HAS BEEN doing to reduce local costs in those overseas market locations.
HARELY DAVIDSON has been SHIT for a long time. I promised to never buy another Harley after they sold me a Superglide with a faulty design cam-chain tensioners that FAIL long before the main engine components. Harley will sell you a fix and even offers to install it for a lot of money. funny how this works…
yeah, we know, jackass….. Harley has been an un-american pos company for decades and then they started building the crappy "twin-cam" engine. FUCK THEM!
Honda's more American than Harley at this point.
