France - Knifeman Shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ Kills 1, Wounds 2 In Paris (Video)

A man armed with a knife killed one person and seriously wounded two others today in Trappes (Yvelines), a suburb of the French capital Paris, before being "neutralized" by the police.

After the events, the assailant entrenched himself in a nearby pavilion. after police arrived he tried to attack them, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ after which they shot him.

It is at this point not known whether the terrorist is still alive.

The authorities are still trying to determine whether the attack could be considered terrorist although multiple witnesses reportedly heard the attacker shout ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is great).

Social media and Parisian press reports that the man had been put on the terror watch list since 2016 for promoting radical Islamist ideology though police warns the public not to draw conclusions.

Located some 30 km west of Paris, Trappes is a poor city in the middle of the rich department of Yvelines. Half of its 30,000 inhabitants are under 25 and the unemployment rate is approaching 20%. The government has placed the city on the list of thirty districts that should receive additional staff for the police.
