The hashtag #JusticePourKhadija is trending in any French-speaking European country (France, Belgium, Luxembourg) as the story of the 17-year-old girl from a Moroccan town has stirred public anger.
French TV covered her story but was accused of racism and bias as all those arrested were Muslim men and the story started trending during their Eid Al-Adha week when families are supposed to get together and slaughter a goat. Some of those accused reside in France and were said to be visiting relatives in Morocco during the summer months when the events took place.
Given a large number of French senior citizens living in Morocco (which used to be a French colony) and the great number of French girls vacationing there visiting their grandparents, French TV went ahead and showed it. It comes only a week after video of a group rape by Moroccan youngsters on a Casablanca bus went viral (pictured) and also caused quite a stir (see video).

By now, twelve people have been arrested for their role in the kidnapping, incarceration, and rape of the seventeen-year-old girl known as Khadija. She was abused and mistreated for almost two months.

The girl was kidnapped in June by a group of men in the village of Oulad Ayad, in the center of the country. They have held her for almost two months, raped and abused her.
In the TV interview, Khadija told how the men, who are between 18 and 27 years old, have misused her.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en-gb"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">y'all better not ignore this because it isn't happening in your country or to a white girl, a 17yr-old girl named Khadija was raped & tortured by 13 men + they tattooed her body, y'all better spread the hashtag <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/JusticePourKhadija?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#JusticePourKhadija</a> and retweet this tweet, please don't ignore this <a href="https://t.co/YceMKAvxKt">pic.twitter.com/YceMKAvxKt</a></p>— (@PLEASEMINHO) <a href="https://twitter.com/PLEASEMINHO/status/1034075426912653312?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">27 August 2018</a></blockquote>

They have also maimed her body with tattoos and burns of cigarettes. "I will never forgive them, they have destroyed me," Khadija testified. The girl tried to escape several times but was always caught and beaten. "They tortured me. I did not get food or drink. I could not even wash myself. "
In the end, the kidnappers released her as their interest shifted towards another girl. They let her go provided she would keep her mouth shut about what had happened. Together with her family, Khadija has filed a complaint with the police. Twelve suspects have been arrested in the meantime. Some of the men reside in France and were visiting their Moroccan relatives during the abuse.

The main suspect in the case is a twenty-year-old man. He is accused, along with ten accomplices, of rape, torture, kidnapping, death threats and gang formation.
The story has caused quite a stir in Morocco and France. In response to the TV story of last week, an online petition was set up to help Khadija through social media. With the hashtag #JusticePourKhadija, people want to pay attention to the girl and demand justice.
