Parents thought it would be nothing more than a pedestrian back-to-school ceremony at a kindergarten in China, but they instead got the shock of their lives when a pole dancer was called to the stage and performed to a startled audience.
The woman wore skimpy black shorts and a black crop top and can be seen on video running her hands over her thighs before making the swivel around a pole. It is not exactly the kind of performance parents would have deemed appropriate for young kids.
Not only did the pole dance performance earn the displeasure and disapproval of parents, but a journalist-parent also happened to be in attendance. Foreigner Michael Standaer, who's wife is Chinese, took videos of the pole dance number then shared the videos online. He wrote: “Crazy. We’re trying to get them out of there and get our tuition back.”
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Who would think this is a good idea? We're trying to pull the kids out of the school and get our tuition back. They wouldn't give us the number of the company that owns the school, but looking into that. <a href="https://t.co/vEdIhuq774">pic.twitter.com/vEdIhuq774</a></p>— Michael Standaert (@mstandaert) <a href="https://twitter.com/mstandaert/status/1036465874826219520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 3, 2018</a></blockquote>

Another video also uploaded by Standaert shows another woman dancing suggestively.
As far as the journalist-parent is concerned, it was bad enough that there was such an inappropriate performance in full view of the young children, but a number of adverts for a pole dancing school can also be seen in the school. Standaert believes the principal may have been paid to put those advertisements in school.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">And they also had a bunch of adverts out for a pole dancing school. The gals in the videos, except for the first one, were not the principal. <a href="https://t.co/xj56WegTxG">pic.twitter.com/xj56WegTxG</a></p>— Michael Standaert (@mstandaert) <a href="https://twitter.com/mstandaert/status/1036466465627496448?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 3, 2018</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Standaert also shared that he and his wife tried to reach out to the school regarding the matter, but the principal did not seem to be interested. The journalist said: "The principal hung up on my wife when she called after saying it was 'international and good exercise' … okay, yeah for adults maybe, but not 3-6 year old kids."

The videos went viral, and the school did not escape accountability for the matter. Said performance was denounced by the local education bureau who issued a social media post warning other kindergartens against inappropriate behavior.
Social media users from all over the world reacted to the issue.
