Massachusetts- Man Says Bus Driver Denied Him Ride “Coz He’s Black” (Video)

A Massachusetts man claims he was denied entry to a bus on the basis of his color alone and decried it as a case of racism and discrimination. He also went the extra mile to demand answers from the bus driver on why he decided to not allow him onto the bus.

The incident was caught on camera. Kevin Brooks shared how he was denied entry and how he felt about the matter. He said: “I walk in front of the bus, put my hand up so he can see me, we make eye contact, stood on the side of the road, we made eye contact again, and he keeps going.”

Brooks was so disturbed by all this that he decided to get an Uber ride in order to follow the bus and demand clarification from the bus driver who “rejected” him.

The video from the Vineyard Transit Authority (blurred to protect identities of those involved) shows the driver at first saying that his bus was already at full capacity. Just moments later, the driver offered another explanation.

The bus driver said: “Well, it’s ‘cause you’re black.”

The transit authority investigated the matter and decided to fire the bus driver.

Brooks has gotten his answer and the corresponding action by the transit authority released the erring driver. It seems, however, that there’s no stopping him as he is keen on taking the issue a step further. He is contemplating taking legal actions.

Brooks said he’s stood his ground and is now speaking out on the matter to show his three children the importance of “shining a spotlight on discrimination.”

The bus driver involved has yet to give his comments on what happened, and why he did what he did.

There are various reactions on social media regarding the incident- others condemn the “racism” involved while there are also those who mock the man and his motives for crying discrimination.
