Republican Senator Jeff Flake’s last-minute demand for an FBI investigation into the allegations of sexual assault against Mr Brett Kavanaugh might just define his career as from this point. In asking for a ‘one week delay’ after a one-on-one with Democratic Senator Chris Coons, he might just have singlehandedly squandered the Republicans chance of getting a majority conservative Supreme court.
Mr Flake (pictured with Senators Dianne Feinstein and Patrick Leahy of Vermont, both Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee), the Senator from Arizona who is retiring because of his apparent perceived lack of bipartisanship between Democrats and Republicans, went on Sixty Minutes yesterday to explain his actions of last week.

“I don’t think anybody expected what happened on Friday to happen. And I can’t say that I did either,” the Arizona politician said.

“I just knew that we couldn’t move forward, that I couldn’t move forward without hitting the pause button. Because, what I was seeing, experiencing, in an elevator and watching it in committee and just thinking, this is tearing the country apart.”
Senator Flake explained that Judge Kavanaugh during his testimony last week sounded like somebody who had indeed been “unjustly accused” but he also felt the White House Supreme Court nominee went too far in his response.

“And I as it went on, I think his interaction with some of the members was a little too sharp. And he actually apologized at one point.”
The Arizona Senator was referring to the exchange between Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Mr Kavanaugh after she asked him whether he ever had a blackout.
Asked about Ms Ford’s testimony, Mr Flake said he felt she was believable: “It was just that palpable feeling that this was history and she was compelling. Just extremely compelling, and I think everyone said that on both sides,”
Mr Flake is speaking at an event in Boston today, where he is widely expected to be met by protesters.

I truly believe that his 'meeting' in the elevator with Democrats is what 'convinced' him to call for an investigation, to buy time for them to find MORE lying 'witnesses'! It's so obvious!
Our politics are a freakshow of old duffers and socialists that want to destroy this awesome thing our forefathers created. Its disgusting seeing a man that spent his life being as honest and fair as anyone could be, getting crucified by a pack of rabid liberals over some 36 yo unsubstantiated accusations some that are so ridiculous that if they really happened it would be the talk of the school for years after! This FBI investigation should rip into Ford, her lawyers, that old hag that leaked the document as well as friends on Kavanaugh's side. We live in a country where one is innocent until proven guilty. PROVEN!! that's the reason this is BS cause none of these accusations can be proven and it shouldn't be Kavanaugh's responsibility to try to prove his innocence. Who the heck will even accept a conformation going forward after this disaster? Like a wise man once said "what comes around goes around" and if that is what we are in store for going forward its over and the great country I call home will be unrecognizable and on course to becoming a 3rd world shithole!
Imagine having to live with a last name like FLAKE! Definition: A flake is someone who generally makes plans with you, promises to do things with or for you but can never seem to follow through. When confronted with their behavior they usually get defensive and run away.
