Ever wonder why there hasn't been another Boston Marathon bombing? Well, that is thanks to amazing law enforcement of our country including the FBI who recently stopped one of the most heinous terror plots ever discovered and stopped. Federal discovered a nutjob liberal living in New York who was planning to detonate a 200-pound bomb in Washington, D.C. on Election Day. The plan if allowed to be carried out would be devastating and killing hundreds if not thousands if it were detonated near crowded voting centers.
56-year-old liberal nut case Paul Rosenfeld planned to carry out the heinous attack in Washington where he hoped to kill himself and draw attention to his crazy political beliefs. Court documents reveal that over the last two months, Rosenfeld sent letters and texts to a Pennsylvania reporter explaining his plan to detonate the 200-pound explosive on the National Mall to draw attention to the what he called the "sortition" political system.

The reporter in Pennsylvania told the FBI about Rosenfeld's plan to unleash terror on Washington and police proceeded to hunt for Rosenfeld. He was found by a patrolling officer who pulled him over on Tuesday. The liberal extremist waived his Miranda rights and admitted to planning to carry out the bloody attack. Rosenfeld broke down and even told investigators how he built the bomb while staying under the government's radar.
He told federal agents he ordered large quantities of "black powder" online and used it to build a series of small test explosives which would act as a prototype for the scale model. Rosenfeld revealed to investigators a secret stash in the basement of his home where he installed certain components in the device to ensure he would be killed as well.
The FBI warily removed the 200-pound bomb from Rosenfeld's basement and transferred to it to a secure location in Rockland County. Agents even removed the bomb's wiring and fusing systems leaving none of Rosenfeld's deadly invention behind. Wray said at a Senate hearing Wednesday morning, "Those cover the waterfront of the full range of extremist ideologies from right to left and everything in between." Rosenfeld is expected to make his first appearance in New York federal Wednesday but the FBI does not believe he is a part of any larger terrorist organization.
Rosenfeld's odd beliefs stem from "sortition", an ancient practice which beliefs in randomly drawing its lawmakers from a pool of eligible voters. Thankfully, Rosenfeld was a complete idiot and bragged to the Pennsylvania reporter about his Allahu akbar plans. FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William Sweeney said:
"Had he been successful, Rosenfeld’s alleged plot could have claimed the lives of innocent bystanders and caused untold destruction." U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said in a statement, "As alleged, Paul M. Rosenfeld concocted a twisted plan to draw attention to his political ideology by killing himself on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.—risking harm to many others in the process. Rosenfeld’s alleged plan for an Election Day detonation cut against our democratic principles. Thanks to outstanding coordination between local and federal law enforcement, Rosenfeld’s alleged plot was thwarted and he is now in federal custody."
Details were later released about the bomb itself which agents said only contained about 8-pounds of actual explosive black powder. Court documents revealed the massive weight was due mostly to the plywood crating and other components used to transport the bomb.
FBI investigators say they believe Rosenfeld was operating on his own and did not have an accomplice. He was charged with unlawful manufacture of a destruction device and interstate transportation and receipt of an explosive. If Rosenfeld is found guilty of the charges against him he faces up to 20 years in prison.
